THe sail
One invention was the sail. Mesopotamians used the sail to harness the wind to move boats. The invention of the sail was useful because the Mesopotamians relied on trade along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, as well as along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The sail was one of the most important items the Mesopotamians invented, and one that affected the United States the most today. Since Christopher Columbus discovered the USA by sailing on a ship, if the sails had been invented later, or by another continent first, the United States may not have had the diversity and freedom that it does today.
