Akkadian Empire Life
The Akkadian Empire was ruled by Sargon for 56 years. During his rule, the city of Agade, the capital, was built up using money and goods from the people he conquered. Even though the Akkadians ruled Sumer, the Sumerians' culture went on. The Akkadians actually used some of the Sumerians' techniques. They used the same writing style and worshiped the same gods and goddesses (they were called different names, though).
But the Akkadians did have some great accomplishments of their own. Gradually, their language replaced the Sumerian language. The Akkadians became especially well known in art.
Sargon hoped that his empire would last thousands of years. But as the empire progressed, kings found it hard to rule such a vast land. The Akkadian Empire grew weaker and weaker, and eventually fell after 200 years to invaders to the north.
