Babylonian Empire life
Under Hammurabi, Babylonia thrived! He worked hard to unite his empire. The Babylonian God, Marduk, was made supreme over all other gods.
Hammurabi built roads and a post service.
By keeping the irrigation systems working properly, Hammurabi kept the land fertile and providing plenty of food.
Since Babylon was on the banks of the Euphrates River, trade flourished, especially with the people along the Persian Gulf. They traded grain and woven cloth for wood, gold, silver, precious gems, and livestock.
Hammurabi also treated his people fairly. Though the laws treated each social class differently, even slaves had some rights.
